About Me

Hi, I'm Cyntaya! I love repurposing material in fun and creative ways! I produce vibrant and eclectic art for home and corporate settings.

I am originally from New Orleans, but have been living in Wilmington, DE since 1999. New Orleans truly rooted my origins in festive colors and active art! In addition to being immersed in that vibrant culture, I received my BA from Newcomb Art School of Tulane University, specializing in painting. I then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Art Education, specializing in ceramics, at Tulane as well! I taught art in the classroom for over 25 years. My focus now is teaching private and group classes/workshops out of my home (ages 3 to 103)! I am currently accepting new students.

After going abroad and living in France in my 20's, my passion for all things Art exploded! Returning to the States and settling down into regular life really solidified my ability to repurpose just about anything! This list includes, but is not limited to: cardboard, toilet paper rolls, dryer lint, packing materials, paper towels, jewelry, old paint brushes, and many other found objects that can't get up and run away from me! I am currently enjoying painting on discarded ceiling fan blades because that size and shape fit into those pesky empty narrow wall spaces!

My commission work consists of lively paintings to liven up corporate and home settings. My work is ever evolving...however, I have created 3-D, textural paintings since I was a child, so I don't see that ending any time soon! This theme speaks to my soul and I find the added element of 3-D really helps my work embody the active and tactile presence I intend for the piece.
